陈韵
西天中土计划负责人
陈韵,1981年生于上海,毕业于复旦大学新闻学院(获文学士)和香港中文大学(获哲学硕士)。2007年起在北京尤伦斯当代艺术中心担任教育和展览部的助理。2010年回到上海担任西天中土(westheavens.net)项目的研究员和协调人,开展印度和中国间的思想和艺术相关议题的交流项目(包含当代艺术展览、学术论坛和讲座、电影放映和城市研究工作坊等)一百余场活动。同时积极展开印度当代思想和艺术相关的出版策划工作,出版二十余种书籍。此外,她也是亚际双年展论坛项目(biennale.asia)的组织人。2014年起亦同时在城市社会的现场开展工作,包括策划”定海桥:对历史的艺术实践”展览(2014年10月-2015年3月,上海当代艺术博物馆),发起定海桥互助社(策划和组织活动100余场),以及作为第十一届上海双年展策展组成员,策划和组织“51人”项目(2016年11月-2017年3月, 51personae.shanghaibiennale.org)等。
Chen Yun
West Heavens Project
CHEN Yun (b. 1981, Shanghai) graduated from Fudan University with BA in Journalism, and later received her MPhil degree in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She works in Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art in Beijing from 2007 to 2009 as an assistant curator for public program and exhibition. Since 2010, she has been working as a researcher and coordinator for West Heavens (westheavens.net). Besides, she is the organizer of Inter-Asia Biennale Forums (biennale.asia), one of the Inter-Asia School projects. She has also curated and organized art and intellectual projects on urban conditions, including “Dinghaiqiao: Art Practice into History” (Exhibition, October 2014-March 2015, Power Station of Art), Dinghaiqiao Mutual Aid Society (an alternative community-based project, with more than 100 events, 2015-), and 51 Personae Project (51personae.shanghaibiennale.org) as assistant curator of 11th Shanghai Biennale (November 2016-March 2017).

西天中土:印中艺术与思想的翻译与对话
“西天中土”是2010年开始的一项印中艺术与思想的交流计划,用当代印度作为激发中国对自身现代化路径反思的方法。持续数年的100余场活动和十余种出版物,通过合作策划的方式,令印度不同世代和工作方式的知识分子、创作者和行动者落地于中国,在不同的时刻和场所,同中国的公众对话。在几年的工作中,在对思想与艺术的“策划”中,活动的思想架构和形式表达,与对在地空间政治和人群公众的敏感调度,也都成了“翻译”工作的一部分。本次讲述将就若干案例,来介绍一个思想艺术的计划如何介入与利用既有的城市空间,对接在地的特定公众并令思想交流成为有地方生产性的实践,从而促成更深入的结果。

West Heavens: Translation and Conversation between Indian and Chinese Art and Thought
West Heavens is an initiative for cultural exchange between India and China, aiming to foster closer understanding of India through contemporary art and scholarship, and develop cross-cultural dialogue based on visual culture and notions of Asian modernity. It has taken up forms of workshops, talks, screenings, forums, exhibitions, artist residencies and publications and presented more than 100 events and more than 20 publications. Through jointly curating with the Indian individual artists and scholars, intellectuals from different generations came to China and have conversation with a certain Chinese public in different occasions that are arranged and designed by the project. The translation of a contemporary India via the platforms of West Heavens also involves a maneuver of time and space of urban China. The talk will raise a couple of examples to present how West Heavens explores the potential of translation by producing discourse along with the production of space in the local.
